  2. The Intel NUC7CJYS is impressive in build quality and by how much power Intel packed into a computer that sells for such a low price. As it comes as a kit so the purchaser can equip it as they see fit. A system based on the NUC7CJYS could be put together for about $200, and by bargain shopping a usable system could be put together for around $150. The 7CJYS does have a fair amount of connectivity with its 4 external USB ports and 2 HDMI ports, but it is limited as it only supports a single drive, 8GB of RAM and it does not have any PCIe connectivity. We found the 32GB eMMC to be too small to be useful in all but the most limited situations. We replaced the 4GB of RAM with 8GB and added a 480GB SSD drive to the system in order to get a better idea of how performant the system could be when well-equipped. Although not extensively tested we did find that the built-in Wi-Fi worked well. The system has a three-year international limited warranty. Intel NUC Kit NUC7CJYS Review
  3. The branding swap is kinda weird...no idea if they had to sit idle for some period of time after the Lexar deal. At least they came back with a good card

Compatible RAID cards Dell Precision 490

Sure that Dell is not gonna be mean about it? (I've heard that Dell and HP can be mean sometimes about what they want/don't want you to put into their machines e.g. maybe I can't put an HP card in a Dell)
  7. So they sell Lexar 2 years ago and now come back as Micron? I don't get it?
  8. 15mm drives are okay, but only drives that operate off of 5V.
  9. Micron c200 microSDXC card is available in capacities up to a massive 1TB and is designed to significantly increase available storage of Android smartphones and to handle 4K HDR video capture/playback. Micron quotes above-par performance with 100MB/s reads and 95MB/s writes in sequential transfer speeds and 4,000 IOPS reads and 2,000 IOPS writes in random transfer speeds. 10. The HC series is one of three options in Microsoft Azure's high-performance computing (HPC) VM offerings. The H series offers a wide variety of general-purpose nodes. The HB series is designed for applications that are memory bound. In contrast, the HC series has only a single configuration and targets applications that are computationally bound while remaining more cost efficient than some of the other computationally focused Azure offerings. Some use cases MS Azure recommends for the HC are fluid dynamics, explicit finite element analysis, and weather modeling. Microsoft Expands HC Series Availability
  11. Enterprise Data Services Platform uses Veritas's long-established NetBackup, currently on version 8.2. Version 8.2 added additional support for virtual infrastructure in the form of fully agentless architecture for VMware as well as support for RedHat KVM and OpenStack. NetBackup is also Docker certified for backup and recovery of containers. Impressively, Veritas is claiming 8.2 can backup to the cloud twice as fast as the previous version as well as automating disaster recovery. NetBackup 8.2 also adds support for third-party services like AWS Glacier, AWS Deep Archive, and Wmware vRealize plugins. Veritas Announces New Services Platform
  12. The 5TB Seagate ST5000LM000 is on the compatibility list.
  13. It would be helpful to know what is the maximum height drive that the caddys can accommodate. Most 2.5" drives up to 2TB are 7 to 8mm in height. 2.5" hard drives also exist in capacities of 4TB and 5TB, however those drives are 15mm in height. Can the DS419Slim NAS accommodate these thicker drives?

Compatible RAID cards Dell Precision 490

That's a PCI-e v1.1 chipset, most higher-end SAS RAID cards are x8, so 2000MB/sec max... depending on the drives you plan to use, this is a case where you might actually end up PCI-e slot bandwidth limited? As far as what works, in theory PCI-e is all backwards compatible, so I'd say buy whatever's modern and give it a shot. Buy from a place with a good return policy if you're concerned.
  15. The DS419slim is a great NAS for those looking for a personal 24-hour cloud solution that takes up very little space. This 4-bay DiskStation uses a minimalist design, comes with the usual suspects for connectivity (dual USB 3.0 and 1GbE RJ-45 ports), and is powered by a dual-core processor. The DS419slim also comes packed with software via their DSM OS. With Synology Drive, users can sync all their files living on the DS419slim across Windows, macOS and Linux computer platforms. It also gives access to their files on mobile devices. Moreover, Cloud Sync keeps all content on Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Baidu, and Box storage in sync with the DS419slim as well. 18. Data is becoming ever more important, often touted as the new or future currency. However, unlike currency, data has to be easy to find and actionable for it to have immediate value. With the sheer volume of data being generated it is difficult for any organization to easily manage and retrieve data. As companies expand into hybrid environments, it becomes even more important for the data to be appropriately managed. This is where an intelligent data strategy can give customers a leg up on their competitors. High-End Storage Platform, HPE Primera, Unveiled At Discover
  19. Businesses need to innovate to stay competitive and relevant. Many are embracing digital transformation in order to improve their processes and give their customers better experiences. Doing so comes with many advantages but also introduces several complexities that make data and processes hard to manage. Not only that, embracing digital transformations can increase costs through software licensing or get customers stuck in vendor lock-in. HPE Expands Its Hybrid Cloud Portfolio
  20. The spread of as-a-Service offerings over the last few years has been dramatic. While aaS offering so many more benefits, users need a consistent cloud experience to get the most out of it. A consistent cloud experience allows users to effectively manage all of their critical apps and workloads while having the performance needed to innovate. HPE claims that the current paradigm for enterprise technology underserves the market, inconsistent experiences can lead issues using services, limited choice, and higher costs. HPE GreenLake is looking to quell fears of the above with a robust as a Service portfolio that gives customers choice, flexibility, and speed to market. HPE Expands Its GreenLake Offerings
  21. The edge becomes increasingly more important as the Internet of Things (IoT) is leveraged more and more. IoT can change the way companies interact with the world while generating trillions in revenue. Organizations know that they have to not only work at the edge but to do so intelligently, hence the implementation of the Intelligent Edge (an architecture that is fully connected, secure, distributed and autonomous). The problem that arises is scaling the Intelligent edge while keeping it secure and not making it overly complex to manage. HPE is taking several steps in ensure the Intelligent Edge can scale securely and simply. HPE Delivers Innovations To The Intelligent Edge
  22. Hi there, Do you know what RAID cards are compatible with the Dell Precision 490? It's RAID card just broke (Dell PERC SAS5, model UCS-51) and I want to look for something better than that card. Kind regards, wesley9946
