WD's 8mb cache versus WD's 2mb cache

Recommended Posts

Although the database will give you the most reliable answer, I just upgraded my machine from a WD400BB to a WD800JB and the difference is quite noticeable. How much of it is aerial density and how much is cache? No idea. But Boot time, directory searches, and mp3 generation are nearly twice as fast.

-Before I get flamed....this is just my personal experience, not documented in any way.

No, if you look at the header available from the main page, it has several buttons. Including "Leaderboard" and "Database". The database includes compareable results of every hard drive SR has recently reviewed, using a really cool engine written by Davin IIRC....

Here is a link to it:

I'd reccomend the "SR" prefixed benchmarks, as they are the closest to "real world" results.

Beside, WD JBs with 8MB Cache buffer come with 3 years warranty instead of 1 year for 2MB.  8)

This is what makes the real difference IMO.
