Most reliable HD?

Recommended Posts

If it is still available the D740X-6L, liquid ball bearing 80 gig. Lower platter count, the highest MTBF / MTTF of any ATA hard drive around, the fastest mechanically drive around too, and not to mention its cool little green indicator activity light on the bottom. All of these trates make it the best.

If you cannot get that, I would get the d540x-4g series or WD1200JB

hope this helps

I think if you check the reliability survey you will see that the Seagate Cheetah and Barracuda lines along with the Quantum Atlas 10K series have been extremely reliable. I've never seen either of these lines fail, while I've seen a number of Fujitsu, Hitachi, and IBM drives bite the dust, along with counteless IDE drives from all makers.
