I want to see Who here actually keeps a lot of HDD's with them because of any purpose, since i have a lot of them wondering around including the one's on my machines i was curious if people actually have some rare or never seen around Hard drives with them and disscuss about them.

2 in my main machine an IBM 45GB and WD 4GB

2 in my backup computer Quantum 10GB and a WD 4GB

2 in my kid's computer a Quantum 10GB and a WD GB

1 WD 8.4GB full of Ghost images

6 WD 4GB full of Ghost images, apps, utilities, and plugins.

2 WD 1GB FAT16 to transfer stuff from work to my home computer.

2 Seagate 4GB for testing

That's a total of 17 hard drives :o

Oh, and I want to buy the Cheetah x15 36LP for booting and a WD800JB for storage. You know, movies, mp3s, etc.

Hmmm, let me break this up into home and work:

HOME:

2 x WD12000JBs

1 x IBM 18ES SCSI

1 x IBM 30G 75GXP (not installed)

1 x Seagate 4G SCSI

WORK (last machine):

479 x IBM 9Gig SCSI in RAID 5

Does that count?

Perhaps for storage, I don't really need a WD800JB. I would be more than happy with a Maxtor 740X (with liquid bearings) 80GB. I can get it for less than $100.00.

I'm sure that people in here have tons of hard drives, specially SCSI.

So like, you must have the world's largest downloaded private porn collection.... 8O

Just kidding!

But seriously, is this all just for home? 22 active drives? Err, that's a lot of schtuff! Curious to know what you use them for.

Until a few years ago, I still had an old Apple II Profile hard disk in my garage. An awesome 5MB of storage, woohoo!

Ah, so you've got just over 1TB of storage.

I'd toss 90% of that and replace it with a few 200GB drives in a RAID array.
