What case would you recommend? Mid tower that holds 12 drives?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I currently have the the Cooler master CM690 II (mid tower) which comfortably holds about 8 3.5" drives and the cooler master Cosmos II which with a little modification comfortably holds about 16 3.5" drives. I'm looking for a case that isn't as tall as the CM Cosmos II but holds about 12 3.5" drives. I need 12TB drives so I won't be using 2.5" drives. I do not have the space for external storage arrays - I need to replace my CM690 II models with a different case that holds a few more drives.

With all of these have you considered going to rack mount systems? May be more space efficient at this point. Either way, Supermicro probably has a few options, are you looking to build a system or buy something complete off the shelf?

Phanteks Enthoo 719 just came out, I'd say it's one of the few that supports that many drives at a non-crazy price.

Looking at photos, the Corsair 900D might, but then you have power supply fitment limitations and a lack of cooling for some of the drives. Adapting the 5.25" bays to fit some 3.5" drives might alleviate the power supply fitment limitations...
