Which Raid is good for SSD

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i am working on a server and wanted to know that which raid I should choose for my 5 SSD sas drives.

is raid 5 sufficient for SSD drive or raid 6?

does raid 10 make any difference on SSD or only suitable for 10k -15k drives?

thanks

What do you need? Redundancy/high availablity? High performance?

How much total capacity and how budget did you have? What controller is this-- you may end up limited by the controller in some cases, too...

I have got perc 8 power edge and 5 960gb SSDs. We need high availability/high performance and redundancy.

Highest performance is going to be RAID0, but obviously there's no redundancy with that. RAID10 plus a hot spare maybe?

Not sure how fast that card gets, it's an LSI 2208 chip so I don't think the controller would bottleneck performance in such a setup.
