Samsung Introduces 960 PRO & EVO M.2 NVMe SSDs With Up To 2TB Of Capacity

3 posts in this topic

Looking at performance, Samsung is claiming that the 960 PRO can hit sequential reads of 3,500MB/s reads and 2,100MB/s write and random reads of 440K IOPS and writes of 360K IOPS. The 960 EVO leverages Samsung’s new Intelligent TurboWrite technology enabling the drive to hit sequential reads of 3,200MB/s and writes of 1,900MB/s as well as random performance of 380K IOPS read and 360K IOPS write. The 960 PRO comes in capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB (the highest commercially available M.2 as of this writing); with the 2TB offering reliability and endurance of 1.2PBW or a 5-year warranty, whichever comes first. The 960 EVO comes in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities; with the 1TB offering reliability and endurance of 400TBW or a 3-year warranty, whichever comes first.

StorageReview is on location here in Seoul, so if there are any questions or anything post them here and I'll try to ask them.

At this rate, we are going to need PCIe 3.0 x8 slots soon enough for SSDs - either that or a PCIe 4.0 x4 motherboard pretty quickly.

Any idea what the 4k QD1 read/write will be? That is what really matters for most end consumers versus sequential.
