Bohdar 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2016 Back in March, I saw a bunch of articles about Samsung's 15 TB SSD. Any guesses as to when it will be available for purchase? Is there a typical timeframe between shipping and seeing it for sale?
Brian 153 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 It's shipping, might be hard to find but it's out there. Or maybe HPE is buying them all, hard to tell really.
Bohdar 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2016 As of today, I see it on 2 sites CDW (available in 2 weeks) https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Samsung-PM1633a-MZILS15THMLS-solid-state-drive-15.36-TB-SAS-12Gb-s/4079174.aspx SHI (site says contact sales for availability, meaning they don't have it yet) https://www.shi.com/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?SHISystemID=ShiCommodity&ProductIdentity=32119889&contshop=1&SDIMResults=ctgy2:'Other%20Products%20>%20Miscellaneous'&sort=BestMatch&offset=0&recsperpg=
Bohdar 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2017 CDW is now showing this drive as "This item was discontinued on February 17, 2017." Looks like the highest capacity one Samsung sells now is the 3.84TB MZ-7LM3T8NE ?
mitchm3 8 Report post Posted March 31, 2017 CDW nor SHI carry inventory. Often, they are buying from a distributor, who is often drop shipping it or it's dropped shipped from the manufacturer. You want inventory, you want to buy from a place like amazon, newegg, etc. If they don't have it, then it's probably a low volume inventory item, that is being scooped up by a large OEM like HPE, DellEMC, etc, where they buy in lots of 1000's at a time. Until production ramps up, it's anyone guess when the consumer versions will hit retailers.
Brian 153 Report post Posted March 31, 2017 From what we hear Samsung is directing almost all of these units to NetApp, HPE and the handfull of other array vendors that have qualled the drive.
