Hardware SuperMicro vs Chenbro + ASRock

Hi All,

I have two different hardware type with almost same spec for destined for zfs storage , i would like to have your opinion which is better choice?

For all intents and purposes they're close enough to identical, the real difference is going to come down to support... which vendor is providing support and whatever level of support you guys are willing to pay for is going to be the difference.

All I can tell you is we see SMCI chassis in here all the freaking time! They're the go to provider for storage startups that can't make the volume requirements for larger companies or don't want to pay the higher prices for OEM chassis from someone like Dell. I've seen only one Chenbro chassis. It was fine. SMCI is good too. It probably doesn't matter a ton, but I'd lean SMCI just because we have a lot of hands on time there and have had good support experiences when called upon.

Supermicro platforms are rock-solid. I can't say exactly the same with confidence for ASRock (Rack) systems.

both giving same support level (next day customer site 3yrs) and and almost identical price , Tough choice :-)

Also depends on how good your actual local rep/provider is...?

We work closely with Chenbro but more at an OEM/ODM level, I can't speak for any third parties (or even first party) using their chassis/support mechanism...
