Perc 6/e firmware issue

Hi everybody,

I bought Perc 6/e adapter on Ebay. It works fine with exception that I cannot get into configuration during the boot. I tried Crtl+R, Ctrl+H and Ctrl+C combinations, but no luck. I can manage it with megacli no problem. Still I am concerned that it might happen that I cannot boot OS and I need to manage RAID. I tried to update firmware with the latest Perc6/e firmware when I got the message that the package version installed is higher than the one in the update package. I diced not to proceed unless I get better understanding of the issue. It appears to me that somebody upgraded controller with LSI firmware and therefore there is a package version discrepancy. The output of controller configuration is below.

I have few questions regarding my issue:

  1. Is Perc 6/e LSI rebranded RAID card? If so, what is LSI equivalent model?
  2. Can be the LSI firmware used on Perc 6 cards?
  3. Is there any other keyboard combination to get into configuration utility during BIOS boot?
  4. Are there functionality differences between LSI firmware and DELL Perc firmware?

Are you located in the US? Kind of wondering if the best way I can help you out is to just ship you a new modern card. That Perc6 is olllld. LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP era.

That I'm not sure about. Even with current-generation cards that can be a gamble. The safest bet is always backing up the data, moving the disks over, and creating it new.
