Fusion-io ION Data Accelerator Review Discussion

Recommended Posts

Fusion-io’s ION Data Accelerator software platform leverages ioMemory flash storage and open server hardware to accelerate applications and SAN performance through sharing or clustering high-speed PCIe flash. ION Data Accelerator is designed for use with Tier 1 server hardware from a number of major vendors, where it functions as an application accelerator appliance that supports block storage protocols including 8/16Gb Fibre Channel, QDR/FDR InfiniBand, and 10Gbit iSCSI.

I understand the reads being pretty close between RAID 0 and RAID 10 but why are the write speeds nearly identical. I'd assume an almost double write performance....

In-system performance would most likely see double performance, but passing through the FC cards to the other servers we are most likely hitting a bottleneck in some area. 2.1.11 didn't have IB support, although that came back with 2.2. Increasing the available ports would probably show greater outbound performance.
