Lexar JumpDrive P10 Review Discussion

3 posts in this topic

The Lexar JumpDrive P10 is a flash drive that connects over USB 3.0 and is billed as one of the fastest flash drives on the market with its transfer rates quoted at up to 265MB/s for read activity and 245MB/s for write activity. That Lexar figure equates to roughly 1GB every four seconds or 15GB a minute. Beyond that, the JumpDrive P10 arrives in three different capacity points: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. So, for example, if you take the performance spec and calculate it with the maximum capacity point of 64GB, transferring the contents of a JumpDrive P10 filled with a maximum data load would only take roughly 4-5 minutes.

Interesting product. Good review.

This review of over 30 USB3 flashdrives from Tomshardware gives a lot of insight and depth:

The SanDisk Extreme which was the overall winner topped out at 268MB/s read and 220MB/s write so on par, perhap edging this Lexar.

It also did well in a whole host of other tests like small 4k random reads and writes (v v important for responsiveness if you use this as a small operating system drive on eg an HTPC etc)

It would be interesting to see what the Lexar gets and put them head to head as the sequential read and write probably don't tell the whole story.

Right now the extra analysis on the SanDisk would give me more comfort, unless you can provide those sorts of figures in future?

We'll be expanding our testing on USB and other mobile flash products this year and will endeavor to include more testing, etc. We're working with vendors right now to define those tests.
