LSI 9265-8i and Geforce TITAN compatibility

10 posts in this topic

Well, I just receive yesterday my new Geforce GTX TITAN to replace my current GTX 680 SLI. I install them, all fine, try to start, but the boot process stops when LSI bios appears, it doesn't continue, just hang there before show the f/w initialization. I try different slots, also try with only 1 titan and the same. Put again my Galaxy GTX 680 SOC and goes trough as normal. So, my guess is the rom of the raid card is in the same place of the rom of the Titan. Is there any way I can get this 2 cards working togheter? I have a Rampage IV Extreme with last bios and also the lsi with lastest firmware from march. Titan bios versión don't know but I guess is the first one, because it just come out. Any help?

Did you try it with the GTX 680 in SLI, or just a single card?

No clue unfortunately... got a different motherboard or RAID card to try, or heard of any other reports about it?

I talk with lsi, and they said they didn't checl compatibility with video cards, to try on another slots. And if not works, keep using 680. Really not the answer I was waiting.

Considering you're mixing a gaming card with an enterprise targeted card, the lack of compatibility testing doesn't surprise me...

Best bet would be to try a different RAID card or a different motherboard and see if you have better luck.

Yes. I was thinking on buying the P9X79E-WS board, which is supposed to be more compatible with raid cards. I contact pre-sales of asus and they don't even know if this board will going to work with the titan and the lsi card, they didn't test it.

Playing around with the bios settings of the new added uefi options. It is called CSM and this is the options I have check to make it boot, also, it boots a Little faster, and let me even enter the bios withouth waiting the lsi bios loads, which it never happen before. I have always have to wait the lsi rom to load the raid then it enters the bios. The options I have checked are theses

CSM: Enabled

Control de dispositivos equipados: UEFI y OpROM antigua

Dispositivo de red: Ignorar

Dispositivo almacenamiento: Both, legacy OpROM first

Dispositivo expansión PCIE/PCI: OpROM antigua primero

If I disable the CSM I get a red error saying the boot is not configured properly, that I need to enter the bios to solve that. I disable the lan option because I don't want to boot from lan, also this free some rom space on the bios. If I disable the storage, well it not even detect the lsi raid card. So, this is the way it works. Also like the bios is so small, I can't try to save different settings, which I have like 9 slots. I try with 1 and have to figure it out all again, because you can delete a saved slot, just overwrite it, but not delete it. So, after that it happens the same, until a play a Little more and find this option to work. So for now, not going to temp the fate again saving more profiles. Just will keep it like that and write it down my oc settings to be safe. Next week will start with my oc again, so check if everything keeps going smooth. One thing I found, is the Asus AI Suite II it shows really weird values, I get warnings showing for example the +5V at around 0,2 V and things like that. I think that started after updating the Corsair link software. Anyway, not really harming anything, everest reads all fine.
