Regarding your ssd-tests

2 posts in this topic

I've noticed you don't have any form of torture test and perfomance after trim in any of your ssd reviews. Why have you left that portion out?

Thanks!

What sort of torture test did you have in mind? Typical PC system torture tests don't do any stress testing of the HDD/SSD. Read/write tests in benchmarks are a small stress test. Probably the best form of SSD testing would be a custom program that read/writes to the drive using a large and changing database in a continuous loop for 24+ hours. While SSD mechanical failures are rare, operation failures are common. A continuous loop employing rebooting and sleep modes in a well written read/write stress test would be useful considering the number of SSDs that have shown these types of issues.
