Need a solution: sync 2+ remote NAS without comp

Recommended Posts

I need to find a cost-effective method to maintain 3 or 4 NASes in different locations that all stay synchronized to each other. They can utilize a third party service like Dropbox, or they can do it themselves via FTP and port forwarding, or whatever. We really want to avoid using full computers to do this. The boxes will simply hold media that's played by set-top boxes at the locations.

Does anyone know of any network storage unit with this kind of capability built in? I cannot find one, and it surprises me that there isn't yet a consumer/prosumer level solution to this.

Thanks!

qnap does this, though i found you can't do realtime synchronization from one NAS to multiple NAS units... but rsync works just fine on a schedule.

do you need realtime, or a reasonable sync schedule?

Synology allows you to setup synced folders. The folders can be synced on a scheduling, manually or triggered on file changes. Basically, you setup a shared folder sync task and point it to the remote location.
