elec999 1 Report post Posted August 11, 2012 I purchased the Seagate (Cheetah 15K.7) SAS 450GB 15K RPM ST3450857SS for my Dell md3000 from their hard drive support matrix, and the drive is listed being supported http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/md3000/en/supmatrx/Sup_Matx.pdf When I plug in the drive, it says unsupported drive. Do I have anyway to flash the firmware?
DELL-Kenny K 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2012 Was the drive bought from Dell? If so I can give you my email address so you can email me your order number and I can look into this a little deeper for you. If it was bought from a 3rd party vendor and it has their firmware on it there would be no way to get it to show up in the MD 3000 as there will be a conflict of metedata on the drive. I look forward to hearing from you.

Valleyforge 5 Report post Posted October 15, 2012 Upgrading the firmware in the backplane should make it accept any drive, as the whole "Unsupported drive" thing was retarded, and they removed it.

What exactly do you mean by "upgrading the firmware in the backplane" ? The only firmwares I know of for this device are the RAID controller module firmware and the RAID controller module NVSRAM. Or am I missing something? What backplane do you mean?
