Intel Cuts Estimates Due to Hard Drive Supply Issues Discussion

Intel issued a press release today cutting their quarterly guidance by $1 billion ($14.7b to $13.7b) due to the impact of the hard drive shortage. While we've been expecting the hard drive supply problems to impact the purchase of computers at large, it appears Intel is finding the greatest impact at the lower end of the market where price sensitivity is a greater issue.

I for one went with an SSD for my desktop build. Then again, I needed performance over capacity. In fact, I have no 3.5" drives in my desktop at all, using a SSD + 2.5" (spare notebook drive) combo. :P

My current notebook/desktop environment has no 2.5 or 3.5-inch hard drives... just SSDs. The main difference though is each of these systems has a mapped network drive with 8TB of storage from a local NAS. Gotta stick those large file somewhere.
