Seagate Momentus XT 750GB Review Discussion

Momentus XT 500GB vs Momentus XT 750GB

Please let me know if anyone has found upgrading from the previous 500GB version to the new 750GB to have improved their performance.

I am looking into possible upgrading to the 750GB for performance reason, since I only currently use 150GB space. Also I am

running Windows 7 with full disk encryption (FDE) software.

Thanks for your help.

Performance in what? Anything particular?

IMO i don't think it will be worth it, but I don't have any experience with the drives.

But, since you are only using 150GB of space, have you considered a SSD? Besides the 180GB SSDs, there have been some great deals on 240/256GB SSDs(I have seen them as low as $180).

What's the difference between model#STBD750200 and model# ST750LX003 ?

The second model# is the one in the seagate spec sheet (http://www.seagate.com/files/staticfiles/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/momentus-xt-data-sheet-ds1704-4-1205-us.pdf) and states that it is SATA 3 but the other is not there. Some Ebay listings say the 1st model# is SATA 2. Can anyone confirm this SATA business? Thanks

EDIT: According to Seagate Support, ST750LX003 is the bare drive and STBD750200 is retail. Both are SATA 3.
