BiTMICRO Continues Development of New SSD Controllers Discussion

BiTMICRO, California-based SSD storage company, has completed development of two new application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) designs. Their platform is the only current one which uses two customized ASIC controllers and it looks like this could be a trend-setting innovation. These circuits function as part flash channel expander and part SSD controller, allowing BiTMICRO to use a single platform architecture for the entire product line.

Would be nice to see some of their drives...maybe SSD controllers is the new unexplored territory for companies to get in to. Definitely room for improvement.

It would be nice if these controllers are for consumer class SSDs also. My read is these are primarily for enterprise and military type high $$$ SSDs.

Looks like the test hardware won't be available until H1 of '12 so that's quite a ways off. They must be hoping to sway SSD vendors with these new controllers and the Press Release.
