Seagate GoFlex Desk 4TB Review (STAC4000100) Discussion

5 posts in this topic

Seagate recently expanded on their GoFlex Desk line of external hard drives with a newer high-capacity 4TB model. yeah i want to know about heat/temp too

because mybook studio that using 5400rpm drive, full load around an hours will reach 68C!

even in idle without sleep that drive is kinda hot (around 47C)

i dunno about the new one that using aluminium case though, maybe slight better than previous plastic casing

if seagate didn't have such issue then its good news

5x800GB. We're testing the drive bare right now, we'll see about grabbing some heat info, but so far, nothing unusual.

They are now shipping with the 1TB/platter and I believe 5400 RPM. ST 4000DM000. YMMV since there still seems to be some old stock with the 7200 drives. But these drives seem to run pretty cool.

They do not put any performance info on the label on this drive (e.g., cache, rotation, transfer rate).
