Lite-On Announces New Blu-ray Drives Discussion

Lite-On has announced three new optical drives including an external Blu-ray writer, an external slim Blu-ray reader, and an internal Blu-ray reader. Each drive supports newer 3D movies, as well as 2D to 3D conversion. All three drives are available now.

any chance of a forthcoming review. got a bd rom, havent gone the reader route yet mostly due to high cost of disks but amm thinking of one for my new build(which will happen!)

We have dabbled in optical reviews before but haven't made a big push. We will think about it...what kind of benchmarks are you interested in?

Jobs never allowed a BR drive option on the Mac's. Sooner than later, all optical drives are going the way of 3.5in floppy drives that the PC/Windoze crowd embraced to the bitter end :D

inexpensive USB thumb drives & digital distribution (streaming HD both wired & cellular/wireless, iTunes, iCloud, etc) are the way of the near future. Optical discs are fast becoming obsolete, old, legacy tech.

mostly reading/recording speed & of course build/firmware quality. one of the main things really isnt viable & that is # of coasters made vs media brand/type. this is time & money intensive as it requires somebody to run a LOT of disks thru.

basically just your normal average optical drive revue:)
