Yet ANOTHER writable DVD format?

That doesn't look like another writeable DVD format.

(As in available for consumers to use in recording thier own

data and video to disc)

It looks like an attempt to create a format for commercial distribution

that is different enough to avoid the Chinese companies having to pay

licensing fees to the DVD Forum companies.

It might carry over in Asia, where alternate formats like VCD and SVCD

became more popular, but for it to make any impact in the rest of

the world, the machines that support it will still have to be backward

compatible with regular DVD.

But you know the wont as thats the whole reason the invented it: so they dont have to license any DVD stuff.
