OWC releases 480GB SSD

Recommended Posts

480GB with a price penalty over the 240GB of $180, pretty steep @$1,580...shipping in 20days, all others 4days.

^TT review clickable link on page is for the OWC Enterprise 100GB SSD, which comes with 5yr warranty

# Best in class error correction (ECC) and SandForce RAISE™ (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) technology provides RAID like data protection and reliability without loss of transfer speed due to parity.

# Intelligent "recycling" for advanced free space management

# Highly secure… all data automatically stored in AES-128 encrypted format.

# Designed and made in the US from imported parts.

Tier 1/Grade A Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND Flash Memory

Hmm, now if they can get some of the 25nm Intel/Micron chips in the Q2, soon we may see the 1st 1TB (for notebooks) SSD's @~$1600 a pop, for those who want/need it.

via Tweektown:

never mind the anti-Mac/Apple bias of the TT on the review of the Enterprise 100GB SDD from OWC (OWC is Mac centric but has supplied PC usable solutions almost from their inception, good business decision even b4 Intel/Windows dual boot systems came on later in the game)...

the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD's ultra-efficient Block Management & Wear Leveling technologies are able to eliminate virtually any reduction in data transfer speeds over heavy long term usage of the drive and without dependency on external TRIM management.
so u can put these in any system, don't need W7. Edited by udaman
