Samsung F2 Series

Well, it seems that after that F1 fiasco (how long did it take from announcement to delivery?), Samsung now took the opposit approach:

You can buy the 500Gbyte ecogreen F2 single disk drive now, its on stock at several of the biggest vendors.

Anybody got one, or info when the inevidable 1.5Gbyte Samsung drive will arive then?

Only 5W when writing...but this is a 5400 rpm drive

Yeah.

But i think i wouldnt care. My current F1 will be (excluding premature failure) my last non SSD system/program drive. And for media storage, evven 1500rpm would be more than enough :)

Ah, and one thing i noticed: those 5.4k drives have not much lower spin-on currents than the 7.2k drives. As they only have half the energy in the platters, this should mean that they wake up much quicker from sleep, right?
