Seagate 250G External Drive and Mac

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just got this and when I connected to my Mac it says it is Read only. I can't rename it's name nor can I copy files there. Should I format it?

If I need to format it, I would like to use it for both my PC and Mac. Can I create 2 drives, say C for Mac and D for PC?

Thanks for any help!

Open disktool.

The disk is probably formated in NTFS by the drive manufacter.

If you format it as a macdrive, you can't read it on a windows machine. You need an extra program called: macdrive http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive6/

Since I use Mac as my main machine, that is how I do.

There are some other ways, but I can't recommend them.

/S :)
