Is anyone excited about Vista?

meh, not really excited about Vista.

Windows XP is working great for me. So I'll wait until a couple of service packs and if there's some software I really need that only works in Vista.

re #2 - you can allready assign different permissions to different 'trees' with the registry, just as you can with subfolders/file on the HD.

But... there are occasional games, that seem to require you to be in the administrators group for no apparent real reason... FFXI springs to mind here.

To be honest, personally not really. Like most others, WinXP x64 (gaming) and Linux (everyday app/programming) both do exactly what I need, and in a timely fashion on my 20mth old hardware...

Professionally, I'm dreading Vista. The company I work for, produces applications used in retail pharmacy (aka chemists or drug stores), and 70% of our support is supporting Windows and not the actual applications we produce/install/maintain. Even though most of our current software is Vista ready, we have a few legacy apps aren't and never will be.
