zero fill windows app

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a zero fill app that will run under windows.  Any help would be great. Thanks.

It's free, it's called MS services for unix and a you are looking for the korn shell part of it.

Something along the lines of

~# dd if=/dev/zero of=filename bs=8192

will zero out the array until the volume fills up.

creating a small (1 meg) file of zeros

dd if=/dev/zero of=filename bs=1024 count=1024

and using file concatenation will undoubtedly be quicker. e.g

while true
   cat filename >> concatenated.file

Why SFU rather than Cygwin, Cygwin's performance sucketh. the fork() overhead makes for damn slow shell scripts in comparison with SFU. BTDTGTTS.
