Gaming Hard Drive

Recommended Posts

My wife's drive took a crap so I'm going to give her mine, and I'll get a nice new HD. I have a Western Digital 120GB 8MB cache IDE drive. The one I'm currently looking at is this:

I prefer to stick with Western Digital. Anyone have any thoughts on this drive? I was thinking about the 10kRPM Raptor but it's too little space for too much money.

Linky no worky. Regardless, just buy a modern (i.e., current model) 8MB cache disk to replace the one you're givin the ol' lady. I doubt you'll notice any difference.

Wouldn't touch a Western Digital drive with a ten-foot poll.

Why not something reasonably cheap and reliable, like a Samsung, Hitachi, or Seagate?l

If speed is the overriding consideration then a 74GB SATA Raptor is definitely worth considering, although the price/GB is high.

If not, then the drive you have selected will probably make you quite happy.
