Disk array chassis

Recommended Posts

Can you recommend a good chassis for disk array. I am thinking of this http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis...SC933T-R760.cfm althow it is not cheap. But if I count other components it will make about 20% of total price for 2TB array.

Would there be any problem if I put  ATX board into it?

Most of the cost in high density SATA storage chassis is in the backplane and redundant power supply. You could save some money by using a non redundant power supply, may be around $200, but other than that there is not much you can do.

My company has sold a few units using the Chenbro case line.

I doubt that there would be a problem with putting a ATX case into it. I would want to confirm that the appropriate mount holes were there before I made a purchase though.

I have looked at StorCase for a variety of gear in the past. Reasonable cost overall (though I have no idea what you exact specs are so am not sure if it fits into your budget). Company is owned by Kingston...I suppose that bodes well as far as a quality standard.
