Intel Processors

Recommended Posts

How fast is the Intel LGA 775 Pentium D 2.8GHz 820 800MHz FSB 2x1MB L2 Cache Dual Core EM64T vs. Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz 1MB 533MHz 478 pin CPU using old apps like MS Office 2003, internet, compressing audio, compressing video, etc?

Would I really benefit a lot buy replacing my old 2.8, 533mzh 478 pin processor and 768mb of ram?

Should I wait for Windows Vista to upgrade my computer? Perhaps, Intel would make another processor to take advantage of Windows Vista?

Thank you guys.

It's really going to depend on how much of that stuff you're doing at the same time since you'll see the biggest gains when running multiple different processes simultaneously. You'd get much better performance from the audio and video compression if your app supports multithreading, but office apps and the internet will see pretty much no improvement in speed.
