I have the K8V SE Deluxe (on it right now :)). I got it as part of a AMD promo thingy. Anyway, it's the only VIA-based board I've ever owned. I've not had any problems with it, other than the occasional popping sound from the onboard sound. Strangely (or not), the popping is absent in Linux (pick yuor flavour). I'd go with the Nvidia solution if it were my money.

Ron_Jeremy,

I just got the MSI K8N Neo Platinum. I like it so far. I got A64 3200+ with it.

You should go here and click "AMD64 nVidia Based board"

http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php

You can see what kind of problems people are having. Also, they have a good sticky

about which memories work well and which don't.

The Asus board looks pretty good, from www.anandtech.com 754 MB shoot out.

I tried to stay away from Via boards.

I had a K8V based comptuer for a couple of months... I didnt much care for it. I dont much like VIA, (bad memories from the bad old kt266a thru q days) I would much rather use a Nvidia based motherboard... the nForce3-250GB chipset sounded very interesting when the introduced it. I have yet to see a motherboard that uses this chipset.

I use nvidia chipsets for all my athlon 64 systems (except opteron). So far I am very happy with them, the nforce3 250 and 250Gb are easily as stable for me as the Intel 925 chipset that my P4s run.
