'recertified' Drive From Wd

Recommended Posts

I had to RMA a 160 GB drive less than a year old to Western Digital. I received the replacement today and it has a special label that looks like the official one, but below WD1600 it says 'Recertified'. So I assume WD is going this route now, rather than a separate sticker that says it is refurbished.

The drive is dated 19 April 2004, but then again, that may mean it was just rebuilt on that date. Drive looks brand new, no scratch marks. Just a refurbished drive, I guess?

More times than anything it was a store return but they tested it and it worked fine and they can't sell it as new so they sell it as 'recertified.'
