"the System Is Pending A Reboot"

Recommended Posts

This question is merely to satisfy my curiosity. I'm wondering where Windows stores info that a reboot is pending. For example, lets say you upgrade the video driver, & you elect not to restart the machine when prompted. Now you go to do a Windows Update, but are prompted something along the lines of "windows has detected your pc is slated for a reboot. please reboot & try again bla bla bla..."

So, where is this "pending reboot" info stored? I looked in msconfig but didn't see anything obvious.

Without knowing for sure, I'd say it is looking at the registry key that stores the list of files that are to be deleted or renamed after the next reboot. Or something having to do with the Windows Installer registry keys.
