Fastest Ide 80gb Drive On The Market?

Recommended Posts

Since the Hitachi 7K250 tested by SR was a 250GB SATA version with 8MB cache, I would say it should be pretty close between a 7K250 (the PATA 8'GB version only comes with 2MB cache) and a current WD800JB (E/F series).

Apparently all WD Caviars manufactured after 12/2003 feature 80GB platters (info found, among other places, at http://www.wdc.com/en/company/investor/HeadWaferFabTour.pdf )

i'd say the 800JB, simply because it's near impossible to find the 8MB cache IDE drives from HGST in an 80GB capacity. zipzoomfly has the 120GB version though.
