Recommended Posts

i wonder what the difference between the refurb and the recertified drives are? I agree.. doesnt instil confidence, esp with a 1 yr warranty...

Refurbished drives (other than the first listing) fail to instill confidence.

My thought to refurbs is that they've been looked at again. Plus I've have yet to have a prob with refured stuff. *cross fingers*

esp with a 1 yr warranty...

I gotta agree.

However it's a start for those who are afraid to venture to SCSI.

The first one listed, the Maxtor doesn't say recertified and says 5 year warranty. Could it be new?? Hyper Mocro is 5 mins from my office, so I'll check it out tomorrow.

refurbished - To make clean, bright, or fresh again; renovate.

recertified - To renew the certification of, especially certification given by a licensing board.

So basically, nothing

A refurbished drive has been opened and generally had parts replaced. A recertified drive may or may not have been refurbished (i.e., they may have just tested it and stamped it "approved").
