  1. OCZ bought indilinx, yes i see sandforce to be bought by someone like seagate or WD

    Sadforce vs intel vs PCIe

For a performance freak, the speed overcomes the eventual install hassle. The revodrive 3 (not x2) in the smallest size is very tempting also for me, at around 350€.

Samsung SSD 830 Review (256GB) Discussion

PM830 review here: http://www.ocaholic.ch/xoops/html/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=595&page=0 Different firmware? Or is linux fs (dunno which was used) so much better than ntfs?

    Sadforce vs intel vs PCIe

I would have gone pci-e for sure if wasnt for two reasons: 1) price, no speedy solution is available in 120gb size 2) compatibility with lots of mainboards for booting from the pcie card. I had my share of headaches with raid controllers and I wanted some peace of mind that a simple sata3 DISK can offer. pci-e and sata are converging for future storage solutions and new standards will be adopted within 2-3 years.

Do RAMdrives with SATA 6.0GB/s and DDR3 exist?

I think we better wait for intel version of thunderbolt with pci-e 3.0 to have sufficient bandwith, or at least 8 lanes of pcie 2.0. ADATA has something but afaik it uses ddr2.

Reliable ssd. Not just super fast speed

Crucial M4, fw 002 or later. Samsung 470.
  7. I find only the samsung barely reliable. I always stay away from seagate. WD is a mixed bag, but the greens with intellipark enabled lasts about 2years tops.

Samsung SSD 830 Review (256GB) Discussion

If I find the 470 much cheaper, then yes, it would be a good deal. But I have an unused sata3 port for it and for the occasional game >200mb sequential read matters.

Samsung SSD 830 Review (256GB) Discussion

This fall I plan to get a second SSD to store my precious documents, family pictures and work files (+ a game or two if it doesnt comfly fit on the OS ssd -a 128gb m4). I'm not sure which parameters are more important for such use, besides reliability. I can guess usage will be 80%+ random read, so something between the gaming and the productivity setup in this review (scroll down): http://www.storagereview.com/samsung_ssd_830_review_256gb ATM, I'm debating between another crucial m4, or the new samsung 830. Pricing in EU should be about the same for the 256GB size. The lower latency of the samsung probably makes it a winner. Comments/suggestions?
  10. Hmm better I get my F4s shortly then... I cannot stand Seagate unreliabilty.

Eheh my list was correct then The patriot supersonic magnum, but only 64gb and 120€+ cost.

Ah, I remember that test. Yes they are about the same. For some reason i dont remember, i have the patriot noted as (2) while the mushkin as (3) in my shopping list The Mushkin seems a little bit better performer, but nothing noticeable i think. Checking warranty - Patriot offers 5 years: what about Mushkin?

Yeah, price is about the same. I have seen a test of the Patriot, though. Have you seen real world measurements of the Mushkin?

Then the Patriot supersonic is still the best 32gb usb3 flash drive. I dont need bigger, but I wouldnt mind a bit more speed for up to 70€ price (vs 50 current price for the patriot 32gb). This is not gonna happen i guess.
