  1. Thanks for the suggestion, Mitch. I just talked to the Iomega folks; looks like their biggest NAS units have only four drives bays (the Dell has 8) and no SAS support.
  2. I'm looking for an 6 or 8-disk NAS box for a small office. The Dell PowerVault NF600 looks like it would do fine (SAS/SATA + Windows Storage Server), but I'm wondering if there's a less expensive alternative that would do what I need. The Dell box costs about $3,500 with a pair of 15k boot drives installed. Cost is more important than performance for this one -- a RAID 5 of 500 GB SATA drives is fine. Can anybody recommend a good alternative? "Build it yourself" isn't really an option; we don't have a dedicated IT staff, so the vendor has to support the unit. Thanks!
