    New WD 320GB/platter drives

I do have the drive suspended with rubber bands in an Antec P150. That may have a slight impact on access times. Idle noise on this drive significantly less than the WD7500AAKS. . It has no idle noise that I can hear-- and this is in a 'silent' PC that you can't tell is on from two feet away. You can hear the drive seek noise, but it is faint.

Shouldn't we verify that in advance? Or does the seller claim to have enough of them? He says he has plenty. If you want to confirm, you can send him a message. I suggested that he edit his auction to mention the new B3 version with 320GB platters. He may do that.

    New WD 320GB/platter drives

I received several of these drives today. I got them from this ebay seller. When you submit payment with Paypal, specify in the note that you want the new WD3200AAKS-00B3A0 version.

    WD7500AAKS vs. HD753LJ vs. ST3750330AS

thats not right the wd75000aaks uses 4 platter with <200gb/platter the wd gp series use 250gb platters You're right, my mistake.

    WD7500AAKS vs. HD753LJ vs. ST3750330AS

Larger platters = higher throughput, so [usually] better performance. The current Western Digital WD7500AAKS uses 250Gb platters.

    New WD 320GB/platter drives

The full PN for the first 7200rpm 320GB platter model is WD3200AAKS-00B3A0. “B3†is the differentiator. I sent Eugene the contact information to obtain one of these drives.
