  1. There is a discrepancy in WD's published data on track-to-track time (no surprise): the generic info shows a good number, the drive-specific link is 3x.   2. I see on the published specs for the two generations of the drive (old=YS and new=ABYS) that there is a 3x slower track-to-track seek time on the NEW drive. It would seem to explain 3x slower performance in the case of random reads vs sequential access to continguous sectors. What kinds of access (and which generation of drive) were used in the cases of reported performance problems?
