    CPU affecting GPU?

Thanks for the ideas but in the end it seems to be the temperature of my computer case causing the GPU to start to over heat. What I did not think about was that I have just moved into a new house and it did not occur to me that my new place might be warmer (which it is) all so it has been hot for last 2 days and it has now become cooler and I have had no problems at 3.4Ghz. Thanks for your replies I am glade it was nothing complicated in the end. xSTLx I have to say that I think it is a bit of a old wives tale that a over clocked CPUs or GPUs will shorten there life span as most CPUs or GPUs are just under clocked versions of there bigger brothers e.g. NVIDIA 6800 GT is just a under clocked 6800 GT Ultra. Thanks again for the help tho ^o^/
  3. Can some 1 explain why this is happening to my CPU? When I play Battlefield 2 with my P4 2.8 CPU over clocked to 3.4 Ghz I get Very bad graphic errors which do look a lot like my graphics card over heating but it is not the GPU because if I clock the CPU down to 3.1Ghz the graphic errors go away. I thought that it could have been the CPU heating up the rest of the case but it dos not have any graphic errors with any over game I play on it. So can some 1 explain to me why my CPU affects the graphics in this game and only this game as I have no problems with any other game at this over clocked speed e.g. Half Life 2?

  5. Can any 1 tell me if I have over looked any thing or will this work? I am thinking of getting a new hard drive and using my old 1 as a storage drive and to put my windows page file at the start of it then reinstall windows on my new drive in the hope of getting a little more performance. I am thinking of getting a Maxline III NCQ 250GB SATA and my old drive is a Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 160GB IDE they are on a Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard. Can there be problems with using a IDE drive with a SATA drive? If any 1 can tell me if this would work ok I would be most grateful. Thanks
