Wait try this before you do that. I think you can just reset the CMOS in the bios now if things seem to be running cool.. Resetting CMOS After Upgrade As the system reboots, watch the BIOS identifier to make sure the new BIOS version was properly installed. During boot, press the [F2] key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility. Return the CMOS settings to the factory defaults by pressing [F9], then press [ENTER] to load setup defaults. NOTE: If you saved your CMOS setting as custom defaults before the BIOS upgrade, then go to the Exit menu and choose the “Load Custom Defaults“ option to return it to your previous custom settings. Go through each screen of options and return the CMOS settings to the values that you wrote down prior to upgrading the BIOS. Press [F10] to save the settings, then press [ENTER] to accept the changes.

what is your motherboard brand and #?
  9. I know the DiamondMax 10's run 1 degree © or so hotter than the Maxline III's. Maxtor uses the DiamondMax series in the retail box versions you see in the stores. I have never seen Maxline's in a retail box so I guess that sets what Maxtor have in mind for thier end users. Cheap server people (Max Line III) vs gamer/multimedia (DiamondMax 10) could be what they mean for those "midline applications" aplications? I wish SR would just buy one from newegg to review/test it as I want to buy a new hard drive soon...

    Maxtor Maxline 3

Will there be a test/comparison of the DiamondMax 10 drives soon? You can get the 300 gb (6B300S0) ones online now. Also to compare the Hitachi's and WD's with the Max Line III doesn't seem fair as according to Maxtor's website it is designed for servers and network applications. The DiamondMax 10's are stated to be for multimedia and gaming use. I want to see if it will beat the Hitachi's or if there is any difference between Max Line III and DiamondMax 10....
  11. and how do you know it's a 7B250S0 Max Line III drive? It says nothing on that page about part number. It could be an old Max Line II..
