    Raptor 36.7GB Jumper settings

What should my results be around in sisoft sandra 2004?
  3. Hello I just got my setup yestarday and installed it and it seems slower then my IDE drive was. What is the right jumper to have it set on. I just left it where it was. Any suggestions on settins too?

    Getting first SATA Setup

do you have to do anything in your bios to have it boot the sata drive?
  5. ok I just ordered a Koutech PCI to SATA Raid Card and a WD 36.7GB Raptor and I was wondering how would you set that up with an IDE WD1600BB. I'm talking about from setup in bios to windows install. Can someone please give me the run down of everything I need to do when I get the drive next week.

    Motherboard Dead?

Apparently so because I told them what happened and they said they would get me an RMA number. Just the only thing they said is I really voided the warranty since I used a third party HSF (Volcano 11+).

    Motherboard Dead?

It was the cpu i didnt' have the heatsink sitting on it right and it burnt. Good thing they have 3 year MFG warranty. Now how do i tell if the mobo is still good? I don't have an extra processor handy i can stick in it. I know the fans start up though.

    Motherboard Dead?

I have tried that. But I was looking at my cpu a minute ago and on the under side the part in the middle is darker then the rest so i'm thinking the cpu got shorted.

    Motherboard Dead?

Last night I was switching cases and got everything switched ok and computer was running for a couple minutes. Well the light on the front of the case were switched (HDD and Power Light). So while the computer was running i was messing with the case wires to switch the two lights. Then all the sudden the computer turned off and the light on the motherboard just flickers. It is solid until i hit the power button once and the fans spin for a second and then everything goes off and light starts flickering. I figure the motherboard somehow shorted out or cpu shorted. Whcih won't matter since i'm about to get a new one.

I currently have the A7N8X rev. 2.0 which I would keep if I could find a cheap SATA controller. That is the only reason I wanna upgrade the mobo just for the SATA controller. I have PC2700 Ram which i'm getting PC3200 and AMD 3000+.

    Better Performance

In a few weeks i'm going to buy a 9800XT and something else but couldn't decide on Audigy ZS or new motherboard ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe. Which on of those will give me a better boost in performance Sound or mobo?

Finally Building New Pc With Raid?

I think it is too pricy for something that isn't mainstream with all software i use and it wouldn't benefit me as much. And drivers for hardware are now just coming out for 64-bit. I will wait till next summer when all this new stuff goes mainstream and prices to come down a little bit.

Finally Building New Pc With Raid?

BTW I have two other questions. 1. Will I benefit more from two sticks of 512MB in dual channel or 3 sticks of 512 in single channel? 2. I'm looking for a HDTV card that supports upto 200 channels.
  15. Here is what I have in mind. Motherboard: ASUS "A7N8X-E Deluxe" nForce2 Ultra 400 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket A CPU -RETAIL Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ "Barton", 400MHz FSB, 512K Cache Processor - Retail Sound: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS PCI Sound Card, Model "SB0350" -RETAIL Video: ATI RADEON 9800XT Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP -RETAIL Ram: 2x OCZ Enhanced Latency Series 184 Pin 512MB PC-3200 Platinum Edition Retail Hard Drive: 2x Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD740GD, OEM Drive Only DVD R/RW: NEC 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Drive, Model ND-2510A SW BGE, OEM Floppy Drive: SONY Beige 1.44MB 3.5Inch Floppy Disk Drive, Model MPF920, OEM Cooling Fan: Thermaltake Volcano 11+ Xaser Edition, Opti-fin technology, made of All Copper Cooling Grease: Arctic Silver Premium Silver Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound, Model "Arctic Silver 5", 3.5-gram( 1 cc. ) tube Case: Thermaltake Silver XASER III LanFire ATX MID Tower Chassis with 420W power Supply, Model "VM2420AU" -RETAIL Total Cost = $1445 Now the question is about the hard drive setup. I was thinking something along the line of those two 74GB Raptors in Raid 0. But I have never messed with raid of any type and was wondering what the pros and cons would be for this setup. The computer will be a gaming/multimedia computer.
