  2. Really? That ur best analysis? Like some other stock brokerage analysts? As the world's largest technology company with a *huge* cash reserve, Apple could buy any number of hardware companies. Was speculated many times in the past Apple could by ATI (b4 AMD did). Apple could likely, w/shareholder enthusiasm, buy Intel(no need 4 even a hostile takeover)! Buying Intel won't happen, but it would be just great to see those here and over on 'Apple h8trs r us' bust a groin, venting in fury over Armagedon , would make their whole worthless lives have meaning, such that they could whine & whine& whine about how their Winblows machines are crap since Apple took over Intel, rflmao. Historically Apple has had problems with both the ATI & Nvidia GPU's, but Apple could (try) even buy *both* of those companies...yet they don't??? If as u say, Apple finally, late to the game (yeah sure, if u want to believe that, fine) decided it must buy some company b4 it's too late to stay "competitive", why oh why, has Apple used sub-par performing Samsung & Tonshiba SSD's in their laptops in the past??? http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/12/20/apple.deal.for.anobit.said.sealed/ ^thought this was interesting as I find it hard to believe 3bit/cell flash could even approach SLC 'trustworthiness' *and* maintain a large capacity lead. ^that seems to be the more common variable that Apple seeks---part of the competitive edge in obtaining customized hardware designed specifically for Apple products, to work well with their product needs--- least this is electronista's editorial analysis. Apple seems to be on good terms with Intel (was at least while Steve Jobs was alive), so they get customized support w/o needing to buy out Intel

    Hawaii Five-O

hmm, GP did some smokin hot Maxim pix for the movie/final season of BSG. {looks around for complaining about scantily clad 'network tv approved' Asian babes I post, 'timwhit'- sexual harassment/hostile workplace draconian employer no one in their right mind would work for} http://cdn.buzznet.com/media/jj1//2009/10/helfer-maxim/grace-park-tricia-helfer-maxim-november-2009-01.jpg ^my puter, amongst other things, melts down after short-term exposure, lol> sizzle. And now we have the umpteenth remake of the 60-70's iconic police TV series (I actually didn't watch many epi as a child, thought police story episodic tv was kind of boring)... but dammmmn, if they've got GP in a bikini for every epi, might be worth some drool time. http://knucklesunited.com/2010/03/grace-park-in-hawaii-five-o-remake/ ^Say, am I the only one that noticed just to the lower right of her belly button in all of those pix, there is this odd 'dent' ??? She sure is skinny, and buff at the same time....I like suggestion for tweaking the SR layout, ditch the dark grey, make the color change to match the vibrant blue already highlighting most recent posting time...if you can make it the same color as GP's bikini, that would be uber kewl! It's by the same producers responsible for that oddball series on Fox "Fringe", so maybe it won't be totally boring...seriously how can you make up new stories about a small island city like Honolulu? Then again, Dark Angel about apocalyptic post radiation blast that knocked out all communications was a far strecth...it had 19yr old Jessica Alba, kickin arse, wearing tight leather, riding a cafe racer motorcycle . Alright, the all important (besides the fact the leading men in this remake all need to friggin shave, none of them can match Jack Lord's most awesome, metrosexual, before there ever was such a buzz word, incomparable hair...yeah, Don Johnson tried, so did David Caruso...none cold match JL's 'super cool' look) issue is- which theme music do you like best? Recall, Miami Vice intro is just a clone of the fast changing, and imho superior, imagery of the orig H50 intro. Personally, like the Ventures electronic/surf music slant the best. ^1968 orig H50 intro/credits. ^who's the cuttie 'native' with the orange/red towel dress running along the beach? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXfyhqXxf3E ^alternate intro from the pilot for the orig H50...crediting Nancy Kwan! whoa, I never saw that. And Leslie Nielsen??? Shirley U can't be serious? Then there was this mini-controversy about the short 35sec test intro for the 2010 series, which everyone hated, except it seems like the producers planned it that way, we were punk'd? WTH, there were no computers/other than mainframes back in 1968, what's with this "rebooted" stuff on the new series??? [media*]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uMEBtOTcl0[/media] ^Hawaii Five-0 - Rebooting the Theme <actually sounds pretty good, but BBKing wasn't on the original recording, was he? [media*] [/media]^fake 35sec intro. [media*] [/media]^Ventures version of H50, the best. [media*] [/media]^fan version/old theme, mixed w/new show. I'm actually astonished the orig show lasted so long- don't remember that at all, 1968 all the way to 1980< no way! "Book'em Danno" me: Kona...book'me....puleeeezz! [edit: hmm, is there a limit to the # or embedded vids one can post/per post...after the 1st two, the rest are not appearing in the preview window, or they are taking forever to load?...nope, got the error message...wtf, limit of only *two* per post, that's ridiculous, can someone change that to 10 please ]

  5. IN China, a Bugatti would cost more than that. Some of the rich in China just 'collect' them, don't even drive them... zero miles/km. http://news.yahoo.com/supercar-makers-chase-chinas-superrich-motorheads-070808442.html If that Fiat 500 Abarth would morph back into >http://www.fhm.com/girls/covergirls/catrinel-menghia (now that she's getting a divorce from her 46yr old has-been ex-footballer hubby...so say the tabloids)>>> I'd 'drive' her *everywhere* *everyday*

    Androidland

Can't wait until the iPhone5 makes it to Virgin Mobile (few years, common Sprint it's only $1000+ off-contract???), so I can dump the POS malware prone Android OS smartphone I have now, for iOS. Lol, I see on the other storage site aka 'Apple h8rs r us', they even have a thread on dinosaur tech Blackberry...though kind of surprised they dont' have a thousand pg Winblows 8 Moible thread to match their h8rs r us iPhone thread
  7. surprised no1 has posted about it yet. Official announcement is coming Dec5 >disruptive tech ? 'game changing' ? Coming...soon? 2+yrs??? http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/12/01/ibm.micron.team.up.on.3d.memory.chips/
  8. Actual PR is far more detailed than the short SR blurb...er 'article' SAS, SATA, FC and PCIe Enterprise-Class SSD to Deliver More Than 400,000 Random Write IOPS and Scale Up to More Than 5TB of Pure Solid State Storage http://www.bitmicro.com/press_news_releases_20111121.php expected delivery 1/2 2012 electronista pointed out SF2000 is limited to 60k IOPs

    OCZ Octane SSD Review

somewhat disappointing review: Have you even looked @current pricing? It's well higher than what was hyped both here on SR as well as by the 'official' announcement by OCZ...and that 1TB is going to probably be even more expensive/GB than promoted...if and when they ever release it, right now it's vaporware, not what the article is suggesting. Further, there was a 1TB drive announced more than a year ago, not sure if it ever shipped. Performance, at least as tested by SR is also much lower than pre-release 'hype'. I did not see an OWC 6GB drive in the comparisons...so conclusions in the whole article are dubious at best...kinda like a Consumer Reports article, too few models for comparison, the ones you probably aren't interesting in buying anyway
  11. more interesting specs/facts: http://www.hpcwire.com/hpcwire/2011-11-14/japan%E2%80%99s_k_computer_retains_top500_crown.html And yet @#21 on the current list, @ 1/20th the theoretical max Linpack score, the Mole-8.5 is the 1st to simulate the H1N1 flu virus, guess software helps...something useful http://www.hpcwire.com/hpcwire/2011-11-10/chinese_gpu_supercomputer_simulates_h1n1_virus.html Coming soon from Fuji...if u have to ask, u can't afford it. http://www.hpcwire.com/hpcwire/2011-11-07/fujitsu_announces_supercomputer_that_can_scale_to_23_petaflops.html
  12. Jobs never allowed a BR drive option on the Mac's. Sooner than later, all optical drives are going the way of 3.5in floppy drives that the PC/Windoze crowd embraced to the bitter end inexpensive USB thumb drives & digital distribution (streaming HD both wired & cellular/wireless, iTunes, iCloud, etc) are the way of the near future. Optical discs are fast becoming obsolete, old, legacy tech.
  13. some important discrepancies btw ur article & anad: It's already "Fall" , winter comes in Dec. Anad sez, just 10 days from now- w00t: Also u missed this important part: Also there will be a legacy 3GB/s version using ASync NAND (same performance, parameters sans 6GB/s interface???...or different?), w/1TB as top capacity>pricing same??? ...but will it in fact? In the 3GB/s version too?

Apple founder Steve Jobs dies :(

sadder still that such a 'genius' might very well been so stupid as to be the one who killed himself, when he had the chance to live a long(er) life...what could have been, if only: http://d.yimg.com/nl/ytv/site/player.html#vid=27021035 ^vid teaser for upcoming '60 Minutes' interview with Jobs official biographer http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/10/20/60minutes/main20123269.shtml According to Isaacson, in the 9mo, the cancer had spread to adjoining tissue...biggest mistake of his life (Jobs), thinking different killed him.
  16. Guess I was right, happened even faster than I thought...a real loss. Will Apple continue on the same now, was the question? The worlds largest tech company, still the leader without it's founding visionary??? http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/national_world&id=8380581

    Apple CEO Steve Jobs resigns

roflmfao...just took a look over on that 'other site'... aka Apple h8rs R us. They truly have no lives at all. Not only have then not even mentioned Jobs resigning as CEO, they're still utterly & completely obsessed with trashing everything Apple as much as they can, still running a year+ old thread of hundreds of posts (from an active membership of 1/100th of this site...which means about <dozen) dissing everything they can think of with an "iphone syndrome" thread. REally kind of sad and pathetic people, especially the site owner who is a tool, banned me for starting a thread about the same kinds of behavior the membership is guilty of as those they love to fervently mock. B4 he banned me I did say I thought Apple stock was overpriced (a year+ ago) and that the linked article about an analyst predicting AAPL to hit $400/share was dubious. Man, supercaffeinated should have bought AAPL stock instead of Seagate, during the recent recession when Apple sales were bucking the industry, and unlike other tech companies, Apple wasn't laying off employee's like there was no tomorrow, and yet the stock price fell to a relative low of only ~$70/share. I sure wish I had the discretionary income to buy back then. Not only did Apple pass up one time rival M$, and their crappy OS (on Apple h8rs R us, they panned, predictably, the iPhone for being 'closed' while gloriously praising Android...I recently bought smartphone, Android w/Virgin Mobile @$25/mo...and I can tell you I wish I had $$$ to get an iPhone as Andriod as an OS for smartphones, really ,really, really sux) as the now most valuable tech company, something M$ once held the title to; but now Apple Inc, via that same trashed iPhone & iPad sales juggernaut is now, by market cap (yeah, Apple h8rs R us, will try their best, cause this news which they will ignore as it incenses them; to find any kind of measure to say how Apple isn't worth any of the hype) is now the world's most valuable company by far, surpassing Exxon. Even if crude oil prices skyrocket, I don't think Apple sales will fall enough to relinquish the title anytime soon. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/apple-shares-hit-all-time-high/
  18. Yuck 1st time using this poll setup, not easy. seems to lack the typical Apple human user interface simplicity/intuitiveness<<< musta bin designed by M$ mindset/techy-types ....what would the world be like now without Apple, hard to imagine a M$ world of stagnation, brain numbing archaic, poorly designed products> with Balmer as our fearless bombastic leader. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/apple-ceo-steve-jobs-resigns-14374909?

    Hawaii Five-O

I can't believe this show didn't get canceled and made it into a 2nd season...guess nothing surprises me about the viewing public's TV viewing tastes anymore. Oh well, any excuse to see 37yr old Grace Park in a bikini works for me
  20. d00d, you just joined on March 11, and yer already a site Mod? wtf? Is SR now assigning random Mod/Admn positions to anyone...really bizzare here lately :-) 'doodling' err, isn't that what children do??? At any rate, like Elvis, FM's fame seems secured more so bc of his early death, than if he had lived to old age, say 65 like Mick Jagger. For sure FM's voluminous voice would have greatly deteriorated by then. Never did like Queen that much, though BR is one of my fav songs.
  21. http://www.barefeats.com/mba11_01.html I should think that the improvements via CPU both i5 & i7 are nearly 2x faster than older 2010 model, GPU & memory bus increase would all have more and effect of handling HD video, as opposed to anything the SSD does?
  22. Note to TSullivan & SR crew, IcyDock is marketed to Mac users too, CrystalDiskMark is *not*, when will the anti-Mac threads ever stop on SR??? Sheesh, even Brian is out on this one with his MBA.

    iCloud

Kind of not surprised, SR has always been behind the times for decades now, lagged in recognizing (not in dissing however) the orig iMac (yeah toy for the young, but saved Apple from bankruptcy), iPod, iTunes, iPhone, iPad, etc Of course that 'other' site the owner who banned me is still seething about how his M$ stock is not going anywhere while Apple's stock in the same time period...well investers have spoken and driven Apple to a market cap that's as big as M$ & Intel combined...Exxon will go down in the future. Can't say I thought/or think the iPad/tablets are really what I want...still need a bigger screen for Hi-Def stuff I like. Can't see myself excited by the potential connectivity problems inherent in the newest tech Apple is trying to popularize (not invent, just popularize). Surprised this site's owner, however, not a M$ stock holder/fanboi, what with his MBAir, and admitted fascination with 'cloud computing/storage' has only to throw up a cartoon in the B&G Steve Jobs (closer to the grave than ever sadly, voice as weak as could be, taking away his showmanship thunder of the past)...talks the newest "It just works" Apple product theme: iCloud™ http://cnettv.cnet.com/steve-jobs-introduces-icloud/9742-1_53-50105998.html (thought the sarcastic reference to MobileMe failure was Steve-O being humble in his mortality of now, whereas in the past the younger/healthy Jobs wouldn't have approved of self-deprecation like that)
  24. Not only did they find flash USB drives (maybe OBL even read SF, lmao)...but a stash of electronic pr0n ...so typical of hypocritical muslim extremists http://techland.time.com/2011/05/13/bin-laden-search-finds-modern-electronically-recorded-porn/ http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/13/us-binladen-porn-idUSTRE74C4RK20110513 I also read some story about the pr0n being in OBL's bedroom, but like all the other reports, none of it can ever truly be verified as being accurate.
  25. Not too many are going to know what SRT is, since it's a new acronym. Intel's SRT = Smart Response Technology, which is only available currently on which chipset???
