Hello,
anyone using LSI MegaRAID SAS 9271-8i controller ?
While controller is doing consistencycheck and I pauze it or reboot my server - controller is not booting anymore and all RAID data is lost.
We already replaced our controller with RMA - no luck.

If anyone tries to reproduce - be warned that data lost may occur!

What drives are you using?

Tested whole bunch of them: Intel SSDs, WD Raptors (wd1000dhtz), wd blacks etc. Definetelly seems like firmware.

So this is during the first initialization, or during periodic consistency checking?

Problem occures always when consistency check is in progress.

Eg:

storcli /c0 set conc starttime=2014/06/20 22

Also after escalating problem to LSI they issued firmware update that ... removes ability to stop consistency check alltogether. This of course did not fix the core of the issue - data loss occures if we reboot or shutdown our machine.
