The Caldigit T3 is a 3-Bay Thunderbolt direct attached storage enclosure that is unique in that the device allows users to employ RAID 0 or RAID 1 with two drives, while also allowing JBOD for the third. This feature alone gives the T3 substantial versatility, which depending on use cases can get even better thanks to support for both 2.5" SSD drives and 3.5" HDD drives. The T3 has a maximum capacity of 12TB with HDDs and up to 3TB with SSDs across the three bays.

Looks like a nice unit, but seems overpriced when compared to Lacie's 5big TB edition.

Certainly a lot of parallels between what Caldigit is doing, LaCie and G-Tech. However, LaCie does not have a three drive solution that allows for disk configuration the way this does. So if that particular feature isn't important to you, there are better 2-bay options than the T3, including options from Caldigit. But for those who see benefit to their unique config, there's nothing that we've seen that's quite like it.

Too bad CalDigit didn't make this a Thunderbolt 2 case and use 6G SSD's! For $3,800 I expect performance to at least match Lacie's Little Big Disk Thunderbolt™ 2 which costs only $1,400. Nice try, try harder.
