LSI has unveiled the third generation of its SandForce flash controller line, the SF3700. Designed to support power-sensitive client computing applications in addition to I/O-intensive enterprise and hyperscale environments, the new LSI SandForce SF3700 flash controller family offers increased levels of flash performance, reliability and endurance, meeting the growing needs of SSD manufacturers.

Volume shipments in the first half of 2014, meaning no real products until Q3/4 of 2014.

I especially like "Shield" - sounds like this is trying to make really smart use of the flash cells. From 3k to 18k write cycles for the same technology node. Very impressive!

I don't know about the timing, but we've heard that client solutions may come sooner.

Do you know who is on board? I bet usual suspects, but just curious if there are any names except, obviously: Kingston, corsair etc.
