Very nice hardware. I can't imagine the price :)
Side note: you really should update your IPMI firmware. See http://www.supermicr...q.cfm?faq=16536 (and if you want to play, search for rapid7 and dan farmer IPMI exploit)

No mention of form factor, or of actual thermal testing, power consumption, or acoustics? (ok maybe not acoustics, we know a server chassis is going to be loud ;) ).

I know that's not the focus here, but would still be useful...

Well we're looking mostly at the board so the chassis form factor could vary. Ours is a tower case that is on it's side as a rack mount. We're saving some of the other stuff like power for when we review solutions on the board, like ION. But your points are well taken for growth for these types of reviews.
