The Intel SSD DC S3500 Enterprise drive features the same in-house controller found in the more performance-oriented S3700 as well as Intel MLC NAND. The S3500 is designed for data center applications such as in cloud computing, web hosting and other read-intensive environments. It comes in form factors at both 2.5" and 1.8", which are 7mm and 5mm thin, respectively. The slim sizes enables the drives to be placed in even the most space-restricted environments.

Why does this SSD require a 12V supply in addition to 5V, and what is the function of the two 47uF, 35V electrolytic capacitors?
