The OCZ Vertex 450 is a mainstream, 7mm form factor SSD that features 20nm MLC NAND. Additionally, the drive represents the continuation of OCZ's venture into producing their own controllers and firmware as a result of acquisitions made in 2011. This fabrication model increases OCZ's control over performance as well as their ability to deliver enhanced end-user support. The first drive to feature an in-house designed controller from OCZ was the OCZ Vector, and now the Vertex 450 benefits from this engineering as well.

... let the OCZ bashing begin!

No, seriously.. this looks like a very nice drive. A comparison to the Samsung 840 non-pro would have been nice, though, as I'd see this one as its main competitor. And no matter the performance, TLC puts some serious price pressure on any other mainstream offering..

Fair point but we still see three stratifications in the client SSD space. Value (Samsung TLC), mainstream (V450) and performance/enthusiast. That's largely why the comps are the way they are.
