I have a 27" IMac intel and want to replace my external hard drive. I use FW800. I plan to get a drive for Time Machine and a second for the clone. GDrive OWC have a mini drive that is 7200 and FW bus powered. I was told not to use the bus power and use the ac adapter otherwise there could be some data problems. First, I wonder if the GDrive mini and OWC mini are stable to use as my main backup? Some say their are only reliable as a laptop hard drive but not sure if that is good or bad.
In addition, looking at both the standard GDrive and the OWC Mercury Elite Pro if the mini hard drives are not as reliable and recommended over the smaller drives. I appreciate any comments, suggests and recommendations!

Not sure where you're getting such advice from, but any of 'em should be fine.
